IRS Association seeks creation of department of direct taxes

• The two-day all-India convention of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) Association (held after seven years) that concluded here on Saturday has appealed to Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to create a separate department of direct taxes that is independent of the Revenue Department.
• The resolution said that such a department should be headed by the chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes as its secretary.
• The next All-India IRS Association Convention will be held in Hyderabad.
