- The National Manufacturing Policy envisages the creation of mega industrial zones with world-class infrastructure facilities in various parts of the country and is expected to generate 100 million jobs.
- It will take the share of manufacturing to 25 per cent of the country's GDP by 2020 from the current 15-16 per cent.
- The policy has also proposed easing of labour and environment laws and sought tax sops for National Manufacturing Investment Zones (NMIZs). These planned big enclaves could even subsume special economic zones
