Merit list OBC seats can't be given to general category: Supreme Court

  • The Court also said the seats reserved for the Other Backward Classes cannot be converted to the general category (GC) if OBC candidates are available on the merit list.
  • where the minimum eligibility marks in the qualifying examinations are prescribed for admission, say 50% for the GC, the minimum eligibility marks for the OBC should not be less than 45% (10% less than 50).”
