- · Top government, business and civil society leaders from several countries, including India, have formed a unique alliance to deal with climate change which have launched an ambitious programme to restore 150 million hectares of lost forests and degraded land within nine years. The alliance was formed at the two-day conference on climate change organised jointly by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the German Ministry for Environment in the city of Bonn.
- · A parliamentary panel has suggested that the National Highways Authority of India, NHAI board should be entrusted with the responsibility of monitoring the road construction projects on a fortnightly basis to avoid delays. NE-EW Corridor is the largest ongoing highway projec which involves the construction of 7,300 kilometres of four and six-lane roads connecting Srinagar in the North, Kanyakumari in the South, Porbandar in the West and Silchar in the East.
