  • ·         The Centre today announced setting up of a 15-member group of experts (from various disciplines such as radiation safety, reactor safety, oncology, fisheries and nuclear waste management) over the Kudankulam nuclear plant project(1000 Mega Watt nuclear power plants built with Russian collaboration are in advanced stages of completion)
  • ·         The Chairman of Prime Minister's economic Advisory Council (PMEAC) C. Rangarajan has said that there is no problem in managing the deficit as there was sufficient capital inflow to cover current account deficit which is 4.6 percent and also said that the high growth rate does not mean high inflation. On growth rate he said that agri. sector showed good growth rate but due to lower industrial growth rate, GDP growth rate would around 8% rather than expected 8.2-8.5%. But he asserted that economy keeps growing at the rate of 8 to 9 percent by 2025, the per capita income of people will rise to 2000 $ from the present 1600 $.
  • ·         In Karnataka, Bengaluru Metro rail (with 3 coaches,10-15 min frequency, distance of over 7km, first phase will cover 42.3 km) was flagged off this morning by Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath.

  • ·         In Kashmir valley, the state department of tourism has organised a Shikara festival at the world famous Dal Lake
  • ·         The Minority Affairs Ministry today said that the 7 States(J&K, Odisha, M.P., Jharkhand, Karnataka, West Bangal and Haryana) have utilized over 60 percent of the total Funds till September of this year, which was released to them under Multi Sector Development Programme, MSDP, for the Welfare of Minorities which has been implemented in 90 Minority Concentration Districts identified on the basis of substantial minority population and relative backwardness.
