- · If Government decisions are transparent and the responsibility, individual public servants in the decision making processes is clearly known, the deterrence against the illegal private benefit in public world is so much more enhance, that public authorities should voluntary place as much information as possible, in the public domain to inform our people. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has said the government is committed to expeditiously move forward to curb corruption and deliver good governance which includes a comprehensive agenda for executive, legal and technological reforms.
- · The Allahabad High Court today quashed the notification for the acquisition on land in three villages of Noida and Greater Noida and has ordered that the authorities have to give about 64 per cent compensation against their acquired land and 10 per cent developed land should also be given to the farmers.
- · The 14-day strike at Maruti Suzuki India's Manesar's plant has been called off this morning following a tripartite agreement between the management, workers and the Haryana Government.
- · Union Law Minister has said the UPA government is in process of giving reservation to backward Muslims in government jobs and other sectors within the reservation quota for backward classes.
- · Describing the intelligence report as alarming Kerala Chief Minister informed the assembly that about 3000 STD and ISD calls have been made by convicts from different jails using cell and satellite phones . He said that roots of terrorist activity in Kerala jails cannot be ruled out. And thus police is investigating all these cases.
- · The Rajasthan Government has asked to the National Highways Authority of India to repair damaged highways and thus has started a massive campaign to repair 38,000 Km of damaged roads(due to heavy rain) before the 25th of this month.
- · In Manipur, the state cabinet has approved upgradation of Imphal Municipal Council to the status of a Municipal Corporation and decided to establish Ward Development Committee Offices in the Municipal Councils as well as Nagar Panchayats of the state.
- · In Libya, after an end to the eight months long civil strife, the official declaration, that Libya is liberated will set in motion a process towards democratic elections in the country. Ruling NTC will move its headquarters from Bengazi to Tripoli and form a transition Government within a month.
- · The US Senate has voted against President Barack Obama's jobs package (of 35 billion dollar to help the cash-strapped states employ teachers, police, and emergency responders) for the second time in less than two weeks.
- · Finance Minister today attributed the supply side constraints as the major reason for rising inflation (double digit mark, to reach 10.6 per cent).
- · The National Housing Bank, NHB has banned all Housing Finance Companies from charging pre-payment penalty on home loans. The decision has been taken after the Reserve Bank of India carried out a separate examination of the pre payment and pre-closure levy of home loans.
- · Today is Global Iodine Deficiency Disorders Prevention Day which is observed worldwide to spread awareness of the risk of Iodine Deficiency Disorders, IDD among people. About 7.1 crore people in India are suffering from this disorder and more than 20 crore are at risk.
- · The National Consumer Helpline (1800-11-400) received over 12,830 calls last month to seek telephonic counselling for consumer related problems. The maximum calls were received from Delhi followed by Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana and Rajasthan.
