Govt to induct 120 officers of army, paramilitary in IPS
- Around 120 officers of the Army and paramilitary forces are expected to join the Indian Police Service (IPS) next year and the Home Ministry has set the ball rolling for conducting a special examination for them.
- examination to be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and a government notification in this regard is expected to be issued soon.
- Any officer belonging to the Army and paramilitary forces, having minimum five years' service and the maximum age limit of 35 years will be eligible to appear in this examination
- This will be the third way of induction in IPS and would be done after a gap of nearly 50 years when a similar recruitment was held in the wake of Chinese aggression in 1962.
- The first examination is expected to be held in March 2012
