Change in tone
- Have you noticed the change in the tone of the news channels, English, Hindi or vernacular? They are now not very aggressive or critical in analysing the Government
- It seems changes in the norms for uplinking and downlinking of the electronic media have worked.
- One particular clause says, “Renewal of the permissions of TV channels will be considered for a period of 10 years at a time, subject to the condition that the channel should not have been found guilty of violating the terms and conditions of permission, including violations of the Programme and Advertisement Code on five occasions or more.”
- This is a reminder to the 366 news and current affairs channels that if they do not work in a particular way, things will not be easy, says an editor with a prominent news channel.
