Now, hydrogen-driven three-wheelers
- Called ‘HyAlfa', the three-wheeler is almost a zero-emission vehicle while its fuel consumption is substantially lower as compared to gasoline with 1 kg of hydrogen giving around 80 km mileage.
- The three-wheelers have been developed under a project, DelHy 3W, of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)'s International Centre for Hydrogen Energy Technologies (UNIDO-ICHET) in association with Mahindra & Mahindra and IIT-Delhi, besides being supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
- Though the vehicle was not yet ready for commercial production as it required more fine-tuning, the project was in line with the organisation's green industry initiative for sustainable industrial development
C.N. Sowmini, first woman Medical Superintendent of GH, passes away
- C.N. Sowmini, the first woman Medical Superintendent of the Government General Hospital (between 1973 and 1977), died
- Dr. Sowmini was also the first woman head of the hospital's Department of Venereology
- Her interest in the subject spurred her to start the Indian Association for the Study of Sexually Transmitted Diseases
- Dr. Sowmini also served as a member of the WHO expert committee on the same subject.
Swift is ‘Indian Car of the Year'
- Maruti Suzuki's popular premium hatchback Swift has bagged the ‘Indian Car Of The Year 2012' (I-COTY 2012) award that is adjudged by India's leading automobile experts and writers of automobile magazines.
