Job: Artificer Apprentice 2013 Recruitment Notification for Indian Navy’s 134th batch.

Post Details: An artificer is a skilled technical person in the armed forces – this is a catch-them-young program by Indian Navy - it inducts those Class-XII pass students who have 55%+aggregate (with Maths & Physics) for 9 weeks Basic Training at INS Chilka followed by 8 weeks sea training. Thereafter, Artificer Apprentice are imparted training for 4-years in technical training establishments. On completion of Artificer Apprentice in Indian Navy as a sailor, they have qualification equivalent to Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering which is recognized by the Govt of India. Post training, Artificer Apprentice are enrolled in Indian Navy for 20 years - which is extendable till 57 yrs of age. Promotion prospects exist up to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer-I and even up to the commissioned officer for those who perform well and qualify the prescribed examinations.

Age Eligibility: Minimum 17 - 20 years on the date of enrollment (DOB should be in between 1st August 1993 to 31st July 1996)

{Analysis} 62nd Annual Report of the Union Public Service Commission

The main highlights of the 62nd Annual Report of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the Financial Year 2011-12 are as below:

• Under recruitment through examination method, the Commission conducted 14 examinations, 10 for recruitment to Civil Services/Posts and 4 for Defence Services; a total of around 21lakhs applications were received and processed; ~10000 candidates interviewed for Civil Services/Posts and ~7000 candidates recommended for appointment to various posts. 
• 100% Online mode of submission of applications and 100% online filling of Detailed Application Forms introduced by the Commission for all of its Examinations. 
• A total of 44,442 applications were received against the direct recruitment cases; ~5000 candidates were called for interview, ~4000  candidates were interview. The number of candidates recommended during the period under report was 1036. 
• The Commission made recommendations in respect of 6747 officers/ posts regarding suitability of candidates/ officials for promotion, deputation, absorption etc. 
• The Commission considered the service records of ~15000 officers and recommended (a) ~6500 officers for promotion in Central Services and (b) ~250 officers for appointment on deputation/absorption. 
• The Commission recommended 2246 SC,ST and OBC candidates to fill up the posts reserved for them in recruitment by examination. 
• The Commission recommended 104 candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, 41 to the Scheduled Tribes and 233 to the Other Backward Classes to fill 67.3 percent of the posts reserved for them through Direct Recruitment by selection. 
• The Commission recommended 14 candidates with disabilities out of the 26 posts reserved for them through Direct Recruitment by selection. 
• Where candidates were recommended for recruitment by Examination, it was noticed that there was delay of over one year or more in issuing offer of appointment by the concerned Ministries/ Departments in 207 cases. 
• The Commission imposed penalties (in respect of examination) on 14 candidates who were found to have used unfair means, submitted false information and fabricated document in the examination.
